Today I went to the Rockette Audition at 6:30am. I was in the first group. I felt great about my performance, but was not asked to stay. I then bolted to a audition for Fat Camp. They already closed the audition, but I was determined to get seen. I asked if I could go with the guys. They let me and one other girl audition with the guys. It was a BLAST! They asked me and a couple other guys to sing. They wanted Pop/Rock, so I tried "Bobby's Girl" for the first time. ( I need to start adding some pop and rock into my book). I wasn't ready to perform it for an audition. I didn't feel confident starting, but got better towards the end. The casting director also offered me a job dancing for The Ride as a pointe dancer, which will be fun. Then I auditioned for Arizona Repertory Theater. I made it past three cuts of dancing ( A Chorus Line) and then sang " A Change In Me". I felt pretty good about it, but know that I still have a lot of work to do get a stronger sound in auditions. Every time I'm able to relax and enjoy the experience more. I know I have a lot more training to do, and I'm thankful that I'm able to implement what I'm learning at BDC and in this challenge at auditions regularly. After the auditions, I had a vocal lesson with Kurt, rehearsal with Quinn and a live band for "Harlem Meer" this Sunday, and then rehearsal until 10pm with Jamie Jackson for the Pro Semester show. Whoooo a long day! Now if only I didn't have to take off work to audition today. lol Dancers are so funny in that our "job" is to take class and audition, which cost money. But I wouldn't have it any other way. It makes me really appreciate what I do and know that this is where my heart is.
